About the WPR Road & Fire District
The WPR Road & Fire District is a Utah special district formed to provide essential infrastructure operations to the Wasatch Peaks Ranch community. This entity is an independent governmental body that operate on a non-profit basis. The WPR Road & Fire District’s primary responsibility is to manage and maintain critical infrastructure across WPR, including utilities, water, sewer, and propane systems.
The WPR Road & Fire District is governed by a Board of Trustees whose members serve in unpaid positions. Day-to-day operations are carried out by a small team of professional staff that oversees infrastructure operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance. As the WPR community grows, so too does the complexity and scope of these responsibilities. Current services provided by the WPR Road & Fire District include:
- Road Maintenance and Snow Removal: Maintain and service WPR roads and bridges, including grading, repairs, signage, drainage systems, and snow removal. The district currently maintains 7.5 miles of roads and will maintain approximately 25-30 miles at full-build out.
- Fire Protection: Fund and manage fire protection infrastructure, including fire trucks, equipment, and facilities. This includes capital investments in the new fire station near Morgan Valley Drive built to improve response times and provide dedicated coverage for the WPR community.
- Contract Management and Regulatory Compliance: Administer contracts and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements for utility and public service operations.
- Administrative Functions: Manage legal, insurance, consulting, accounting and reporting functions necessary to operate as regulated government entities.
- Capital Reserves and Infrastructure Replacement: Plan and fund long-term capital reserves to support the replacement and major repair of essential infrastructure. This includes roads, storm drainage systems, and district facilities (e.g., fire station).
